We have a track record of success both as individuals and as a team and are focused on doing one thing particularly well. That is achieving the best possible returns on our client’s investments, in good times and bad.
Mark Todd - Chairman
During a 15 year tenure as a legal partner at Bell Gully, Mark became one of New Zealand’s leading funds management lawyers with a particular emphasis on regulatory matters. Since leaving Bell Gully in 2012 he has co-founded successful professional services business AML Solutions, and has been appointed to the board of the Financial Markets Authority (FMA).
Mark has undertaken a number of governance roles covering public sector, NZX listed and private entities and is currently a director of life insurer Westpac Life. He is also a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists.
Mark is an independent Director at Mint and is Chairman of the Board where he brings a wealth of knowledge and a blend of governance, business and legal expertise.
Brett Sutton - Independent Director
Brett is an experienced investor with a background in private capital markets, bringing a complementary set of skills to our Board.
Brett is currently a Director of Datacom Group, Stevenson Group, Rangitane Holdings and a Trustee of Special Olympics NZ. Brett’s experience includes roles at the NZ Superannuation Fund (where he was Head of Direct Investment), Todd Capital and Coopers and Lybrand.
Brett Chairs the Audit and Risk Committee at Mint.
Rebecca Thomas - Director and Chief Executive Officer
Over the course of a global career spanning 25 years in funds management, Rebecca has managed a broad range of UK, European and US assets for a variety of investment clients. In the late 1990's, she became CEO of Johnson Fry, successfully transitioning the business from a market capitalisation of ₤10 million to ₤60 million. She has an outstanding track record and reputation both as a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and CEO of several UK companies and, is one of only a handful of women to have headed a funds management operation in London.
Prior to moving to New Zealand from the UK in 2004, Rebecca worked in a consulting capacity and as a non-executive director. She initially qualified as a barrister, is a member of the Securities and Investment Institute of London and has passed examinations for the UK IIMR and London Stock Exchange.
As CEO at Mint Asset Management, Rebecca leads one of this country’s most successful investment teams and also contributes her expertise to the development of New Zealand’s funds management sector at a strategic level. She is currently an associate member of the new market regulator, the Financial Markets Authority.
Paul Richardson - Director and Chief Investment Officer
Paul has more than 22 years’ experience in the finance sector. Before joining the board at Mint, Paul was Chief Investment Officer of BT Funds Management Ltd, part of the Wealth Group of Westpac New Zealand, which has over $4.5bn under management. Prior to this he held the roles of Head of Equities at BT Funds Management, and Executive Director at UBS. Paul has also worked in the mining industry as an exploration geologist throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
As Chief Investment Officer at Mint, Paul oversees the investment process and ensuring the quality of stock-level research.
He has a Bachelor Science from Auckland University, has the right to use the CFA designation, is an Authorised Financial Adviser, a member of the NZ Institute of Directors and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Anthony Halls - Portfolio Manager Equities and Diversified Income Funds
Carlie Eve - Portfolio Manager Listed Property Fund
Carlie has over 18 years’ experience in the financial sector focusing primarily on equity research and analysis. She gained the majority of her equity expe
rience with Goldman Sachs JBWere in Auckland, where she held both research and investment banking roles.
Most recently Carlie was a member of the executive team at Kiwi Income Property Trust, where she was responsible for investor relations and communication as well as providing strategic input into a number of Kiwi’s corporate projects. This is New Zealand's largest listed property entity with $1.5 billion of assets.
At Mint, Carlie manages trans-Tasman Listed Property, overseeing portfolio construction and research as well as contributing to the Equities portfolio. Carlie holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce from Auckland University.
Greg Fraser - Senior Equity Analyst
Dave Fyfe - Analyst
David has over 10 years' experience in the financial industry and joined Mint after returning from 5 years working in London. During his time in London, he worked for global private equity firm Pantheon before joining Lloyds Bank as a derivatives analyst.
Previously David worked at BT Funds Management (NZ) both as a Quantitative and Equity Analyst undertaking the sector research specialising in Transportation, Utilities and Technology in both New Zealand and Australian markets.
At Mint, David undertakes equity research and trading role as well as credit research supporting the Portfolio managers. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce (honours) from the University of Canterbury and is a CFA charterholder.
Simon Haworth - Director and Chief Operating Officer
Simon has more than 13 years’ experience in the financial sector. Prior to working at Mint, Simon was based in London where he provided fund manager support for a variety of hedge funds. The majority of his experience was gained at Aurum Funds Ltd, a Fund of Hedge Funds, and Henderson Global Investors where he worked on both the Equity and Fixed Income desks.
At Mint, Simon’s role is to oversee the quantitative requirements for the funds and the front-end compliance framework as well as managing operations. Simon holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University.
Gina Delgado - Senior Investment and Operations Manager
Gina has over 9 year's experience in the financial industry. She spent the early part of her career based in Sydney where she was a Fund accountant at Mainstream BPO for 4 years, managing accounts for Major Australian and foreign Fund Managers including Magellan, and UBS.
Since arriving in New Zealand, Gina has held similar roles at Aon and Perpetual Guardian and most recently she has been working at the Financial Markets Authority as an Adviser, focusing on licensing and monitoring participants involved in KiwiSaver management, Managed Investments Schemes (MIS) managers and Discretionary Managed Investments Schemes (DIMS) providers.
Gina holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major) from the University of Wollongong, a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Western Sydney and is a qualified member of CPA Australia.
Melinda Williams - Investment and Operations Manager
Melinda has over 10 year's experience in the financial services industry. She spent the early part of her career based in Paris where she worked for a Global Insurance Company. Melinda commenced her Investment Management Experience in 2010 in London working for Fauchier Partners, a Fund of Hedge Funds, progressing to hold a middle office role as Assistant Vice President Product Trading and Monitoring. Her most recent role was as Senior Operations Analyst at Marylebone Partners LLP, a boutique Asset Manager, based in London where she worked since 2014.
Thom Bentley - Marketing and Distribution
Thom is responsible for marketing and distribution of Mint Asset Management's funds. He has over 27 years experience in the investment industry, and has held senior sales and marketing positions with some of the largest global investment managers, including Aviva Investors, AEGON Asset Management, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Nomura Asset Management. Most recently Thom worked with Pie Funds Management and made a significant contribution to increasing funds under management.
