Helping Grow a Brighter New Zealand2

Mint Sponsors Charity “Trees That Count”

27 January 2020 Rebecca Thomas

At Mint Asset Management, we’re invested in our clients’ financial outcomes and now we are also committed to doing our part to invest in New Zealand’s environmental outcome.

With a new year and a new decade upon us, we think the time is right to put our best foot forward not just talking the talk, but also walking the walk to improve the sustainability of New Zealand’s native habitat and grow new ones for our future generations.

After reviewing a number of different options to help achieve our objectives, we have purchased 500 native trees from “Trees That Count”, a conservation charity bringing together business, community and everyday Kiwis, with the vision of helping plant 200 million native trees across the country.

Since 2016, Trees That Count have planted 31,597,907 trees and, as they grow, these native trees will help to remove about 3,406,254 tonnes of carbon from our atmosphere. The Mint Asset Management native trees will be part of a native regeneration programme.

The more native trees we have in the ground means more biodiversity, cleaner waterways, thriving industries and stronger communities.

Our donation of native trees has been matched to the Tasman Environmental Trust, specifically for a project called “Battle for the Banded Rail". To learn more about where our trees are going to be planted, please click here

It’s natural to feel helpless in the face of climate change, but planting native trees is one of the most powerful actions we can take to tackle this global challenge. Together our contribution will make a tangible and positive impact on our unique New Zealand environment.

We want this donation to reflect our gratitude for our investors’ ongoing support and become an investment towards a meaningful legacy for future generations to enjoy.

Mint Asset Management is a New Zealand owned and operated fund manager. We strongly believe in the importance of responsible investment practices, and this underpins what we do as a company – there’s no investment more sound than regenerating our own native habitats. We plan to continue supporting this charity with future initiatives, which will be announced later this year.

We are incredibly proud of our ongoing relationship with our investors and hope you are as thrilled as we are with this gift to New Zealand.
